I spent a few days at home this week, and my Nana is on a “getting rid of stuff that isn’t hers/ she doesnt use any more/ she doesn’t want any more” spree.
In the pile of stuff she had set aside for me was a whole heap of fabrics, and a bunch of knitting needles.
Turns out, although most are in pairs, there are an awful lot that are mismatched!
The Boy has estimated a round figure of infintiy, but latest polls show 17 (thats not even an even number!!) that are odd.
Also there are 36 (18 pairs) of plastic needles. I don’t like knitting with these as I find them too flexible.
The real question here is, WHAT ON EARTH DO I DO WITH THEM?
While they are all my Nana’s, some of them (and I bet I can tell which, they are so cool!) came form HER mother, so I don’t really want to just get rid of them. I need some sort of crafty pursuit to undertake with them, any ideas?
On the note of sock wars…still knitting, albeit slowly. No doubt I’m in the process of being dealt a swift blow via international post. Photos still to come……

I know I didnt. But I was only out by a couple of stitches, so just rolled with the punches.
Got about 50 rows up the foot and realised I could fit two of my feet in the bad boy, so frogged back to the toe and canned the increases (decreases on the toe down pattern) and started again from there.
Cheating I know but I want Sandra to be able to wear these! Anyway im now 40 odd rows behind so don’t mind me, over here, knitting in the corner! (Furiously.)

How can scenery like this not bring a smile to one’s face?

Last weekend I dyed some wool for sock wars using green food colouring. I was SO impressed with the results have had to stop myself from dying all the wool in my stash!

It came out a really vivid green, not like the watery green I got for Michaels socks.
It should knit up in stripes, but they won’t match exactly, as we havent got pattern specs yet. I just guessed!

I’d like to do some spring time dying next, a more yellow version of this green, with light pink bits through it like the spring blossum.
Now Ive just got to get gauge on the sock wars yarn before the weekend.
Still to come: Photos of The Boy’s socks
My knitting needle bag.

I’ve spent a couple of weeks up in Golden Bay recently. Spring is my favourite time of year! Back to Christchurch now, however, and busy with uni work, apart for a small frenzy of productivness last thursday:
Fresh, yummy bread still hot from the breadmaker (ok so the breadmaker did all the HARD work). This whole bread gag is still a bit of a novelty, as we’ve only just aquired it from Nana and Grandad. I think the novelty had worn off all together for them!
But while it was kneading, resting and cooking the dough:

Lemon cordial for Penny, who was feeling poorly, but this was such a long time ago, I’m sure shes feeling all better now!
And:

Sewing! Finally!
Due to my obsession with fibre I havent really sewn anything lately…for a very long time! This is a puffball skirt out of a Vogue Sewing magazine. After tracing the pattern and writing “Does NOT include seam allowance” 15 times, I managed to omit seam allowance while cutting out the fabric, though fabric constraints probably wouldn’t have lent themselves to seam allowances anyways. The long and the short of it is this skirt is winging its way to my smaller-than-me-sister in Nelson. Will post photos if it fits her!
I cast off The Boy’s venom green socks last night, photos tommorow when I have natural light to work with.
