On friday I made up a bunch of lunches for the coming week(s). Being that it’s all the same thing (except the top one- cous cous instead of pasta) I may have interludes of other food too!
Similarly I’m going to try and do up a bunch of posts to send out during the week- I’m noting my absence probably more than you are!
I hope my American friends enjoyed thanksgiving, and everyone else has had a lovely weekend too!

My tinyhappy bag is packed, my clothes are all set out. I spent an extraordinate amount of money on some new pants because the lady was nice and not pressurery and she gave me lots of ideas of things to make, oh and did I mention the pants make me feel like the person I want to portray? This whole starting a new job and reinventing my image thing is really rather nice.

My shiny new shoes (do you know how hard it is to get nice mostly covered in shoes with no heel that doesn’t make my feet look 80?) and some fabric to make some work tops from.
I start tommorow. Here’s hoping the bus run for the first time goes smoothly, and that I am not over/under dressed. Which one is worse?

But we had a good night anyway!
I put the car away before we walked into town for a celebratory dinner. I locked the keys in the car. We had a lovely dinner and caught up with friends for drinks, then called the AA man in the taxi home. He came before we got to the eye spy games, but not before we had checked all the windows. Obviously we’re in! (I was a bit panicky about NaBloPoMo, but I’ve made it.)
Unrelated: these are the cupcakes I made for the other night- vanilla cupcakes with lemon honey filling and lemon butter icing. Yum!

Because it’s just not the same without pictures.

Yesterday I picked up this oak telephone table for $20. A bargain.

The red fabric wasn’t in too poor condition, but I though I could improve on it. Some fabric from my stash and voila!

I really like the honey look of it all.
Thanks for your well wishes about finishing uni. It feels so good, but at the same time I feel a little at a loose end- studying is all I really know how to do. A chance to reinvent myself. It was nice to enjoy a cup of tea in the sun with a friend this afternoon without the nagging guilt that I should be doing something else.
And I savoured the first sun-ripened strawberry, warm from the garden, this afternoon. It is going to be a good summer.

Of 16 years at school. My last exam was yesterday and what a relief to get it over and done with. I did a little jig as they were collecting the scripts. Michael’s last one is tommorow, then we’re free!
Today I obsessively cleaned up the lounge and made a start on the kitchen. The rest of the house is not safe- it’s next on my list.
I had an amazing find today- a telephone table. Photo’s tommorow when the sun is shining.
Have just a had a wonderful crafty get together at my place- lemon cupcakes all round!
Hope everyone has had a happy thursday today!

My two boys last night while watching t.v.

I dare you to take it off me.

The crazy dance. I’m sure if you have dogs, you know what I mean.

Plum tuckered out.

Well that’s actually the freezer, which is the temperature of the fridge.
Crash course in fridges- the freezer bit makes the cold air and shoofs it down into the fridge. I while back we had a wee issue where it was shoofing too much and the milk was frozen.
The air our freezer is generating is a bit like a warm and pathetic freezer. I think it’s warmer in the fridge than in the kitchen. Needless to say we are going shopping tommrow, until then, the milk’s hanging in the freezer.

The mother of all jackpots.

I’ve been wanting one for ages and eyeing them up new, and on trademe. It was in its original box on top of a shelf, I amost missed it. I wonder how many people have looked at it and dismissed it as a box of junk?
Also, where else can you get 11 zips for $5, mostly still in their original packaging?

As well as sweet embroidered linens- 6 cascading posies of flowers, in different colours. A too perfect pick me up in the middle of an average day- 1st exam this morning!

Once I got them home I found that I hadn’t noticed in my frenzy that they were both of a wearble size. And turns out they are oh so cosy!

The green one had a wee hole which I stitched up and put an applique on top of.

The embroidered flower is from one of the linens I picked up- and both of them are now full of holes where I cut out all the flowers- I got a bit carried away!

I’m planning on adding some brooch backs and maybe… just maybe…setting up shop.

While I’m at it, I better show you the stamp I had made at the stamp shop, which is quite conveniently located around the corner from our house. (In the opposite direction is a scrapbooking shop. Oh the shopping goodness!!) I’ve been getting a bit carried away stamping everything, and also bought some alphabets, but that’s another post.
I’ve been really happy with the stamp and it was cheap ($14) -I would really recommend getting it done if you’re even vaguely contemplating it!

A while ago in ‘KnitWorld” I spotted this yarn. I though it would be perfect for my brother, he’s a hunter. (Warning: link is a little gory. He “stuck”, gutted and cooked this pig for my 18th birthday party. Sam’s the one on the right with the knife!)

I’m making a balaclava with a drawstring top so it can be worn around his neck too. I think the word scarf is not manly enough when you’re a hunter. He’s turing 18 this year- any thoughts on a 18 yo gift (crafted or otherwise) for a hunter??!!
Michael’s mum Marlyn is a little easier.

I’m planning a knitted chain, but we’ll see where it takes me.
This year I’m hoping to go all mostly handmade. Wish me luck- I may need it. (I’m sure etsy will come to my rescue, but even that requires a little forthought!
