The Crazy Scarf

Partway through this scarf I thought this was doomed to be one of THOSE projects, the half-finished, not quite how we thought they’d turn out, relegated to the sewing pile (of doom), and so I didn’t blog it- as if acknowledging its mere existence would cement my niggling feeling of failure in certainty. I put it aside for a while, picked it up with renewed enthusiasm, and it developed into something much more than I thought it could ever be.

It is pieced using crazy quilt methodology from scraps of pink fabrics, new and thrifted, from projects that have been and are yet to come. Some of my most favourite fabrics and most dear garments are included. It is back with a leftover piece of red wool I constructed my first sewn jersey out of in 5th form. It is bound using a red paisley scarf, magically transformed with my clover bias binding maker.

It has been hand and machine embroidered, and I relished the opportunity to learn more about my sewing machine and its vast capabilities.

I am anticipating the cooler weather so I can begin to wear it!

    Truly scrumptuous!

I posted the KAL invitation. Let me know if you have any feedback or think I’ve missed something.

    I’m anxiously awaiting my yarn…
